GENERAL BUSINESS 1. Opening Remarks (Chair NeSmith, Mayor Frieda Bass- Prieto) Chair introduced Commissioners. Mayor introduced Dr. Nash, Mr. Nixon and Mr. Roberts. Dixon presented his staff: Ms. Daniels, Mr. Stiell, Chief Hood, Laurel Bradley City Manager introduced his staff
2. Future of Fire Services (County Administrator, Kris Hood EMS Director) Chief Hood gave presentation on the future of fire services. Current factors affecting Fire Departments Hood mentioned ways to improve fire coverage Hood mentioned Scope of Service Hood showed map of where fire departments are Simpkins arrived at 4:46 pm Green asked who gives authority for each municipality. Green stated need to think of ways they could be creative as it related to volunteers. Nash asked which fire stations are volunteer, need to identify a mission or vision statement Chair asked CA if they already have a fire assessment tool. Dixon stated no they do not. Dixon stated need to do RFP first Mayor stated thought they were there to discuss fire contract Simpkins stated was not aware of discussing fire contract. Chief Baker talked about fire for City of Quincy. Green stated if could get in writing the numbers given Simpkins asked if needed to bring municipalities to table as it relates to contract CA stated issue was as big as it sounds. Fire protection for all municipalities. Mayor stated City of Quincy spends more time in the county than in the city. Hinson stated it was not fair to county commissioners. Need to postpone this meeting to have one voice and one sound. Mayor asked about contract being presented to the Board. Dixon stated it was. Simpkins stated they understand the cost as relate to fire services. Simpkins stated they were sitting there blind. Need to have convo and look at where they are. Green stated he did not know what they were coming for today. Did get the agenda but did not know what expectations were. Stated need to prepare for things on the agenda. Green stepped out at 5:07 p.m. Hinson stated wanted to be prepared in advance. 3. Economic Development (County Administrator, T.J. Lewis Economic Development Director) · Process · Strategy T.J. Lewis appeared to provide presentation on Economic Development Lewis talked about process and strategies Lewis mentioned the proposed project approval process flow Lewis stated they will soon be located at the Marie Brooks Art Gallery. Lewis stated just received grant $59,475.50 from Competitive Florida to develop strategic plan Lewis mentioned the major public investments coming soon. Mayor stated GC Director came to them about Joe Adams St 4. Legislative Agenda
