   Chair called meeting to order at 5:12 pm.

 Approval of Minutes

 Discussion and Action on TDC Branding and Medium Four Payment

   For approval of branding, invoice attached for $3500

 

Steele explained had 2 workshops with Medium Four.  There was discussion regarding the logo and everyone agreed they approved of it.

c.

Discussion and Action on Marketing funds for 200 Year Celebration

  Steele said have had many events and TDC has played role in them. 

 

Havana wants their funding for Pumpkinfest. 

5K was so successful they want to make annual event.

Asked them for $60,000 line items 54810 and 54812 of tourism marketing funds

 

Jeff said did not see where was being promoted to outsiders to get their money.

 

Leslie said funds would be to market event, not to pay for it.

 

Holt asked on items, what makes them come back? 

 

Ford said becoming more attractive every day and will keep people coming back.

 

Steele said could have tours of historic cemeteries, historic Courthouse, antiques, etc.

 

Steele said need to market events, but trinkets, need to be approved.  Need $50,000 for marketing and $10,000 for?

Discussion and Action on Crappie Tournaments

  Three tournaments for their consideration:

December 6-9, 2023

Holt / Jeff 5-0

 

Second January 6, 2024-Jeff explained the tournaments-all owned now by one person, Blake Jackson.

 

Jeff said 90% chance January 6th tournament would take place with or without money given to them.  Leslie said he called this morning and that is first tournament of year. 

 

Holt asked if get points for coming in and fishing, yes. 

 

Holt said maybe put out if Gadsden County resident, would sponsor them. 

 

Jeff felt biggest bang is to not market to professional anglers but do something with events.  Holt asked about tour boats while tournament happening.  Jeff said have company doing tours now.

 

Ford mentioned to move $17,500 to lower amount.  Jeff said might be somewhat negotiable. 

 

Holt asked to concentrate on $6500 and Ford said to add local to it.  Leslie suggested to sponsor $6500 and try to negotiate price on
$17,500. 

 

Ford said to concentrate on $6,500 and look at local side.

 

Holt asked if live stream on each and Jeff said thought only if in contract.  Holt said already approved $7500, look at how to market other two. 

 

Holt motion to approve $6500 and pay local entry fee for 5 teams from Gadsden County and $2000 prize for top Gadsden County team/Ronte 5-0

Discussion and Action on Tourism Grant Funds for local events

  Leslie said because of COVID have some that have not met qualifications. 

 

Have 5 applications; Havana Reggae Fest qualified and asked approve $5,000 Jeff/Holt 5-0

 

Next $3,203 for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and have provided receipts Ronte/Holt 5-0

 

$433.23 for Dr. Martin Luther King Committee of Chattahoochee Holt/Ronte 5-0

 

$1,000 for Gadsden County Athletic Hall of Fame Holt/Ronte 5-0

 

$5,000 for DJ Trucker MC LLC and has receipts for event Holt/Ronte 5-0

Leslie asked if want to make it a double workshop

Date will be October 2 at 5:00-Clayton said he had conflict but he was not needed.

 

  Holt said have group working on treasure hunt for the County starting with the 1700’s,

 

Had farmers at Extension Office and had 5 people on computers and had approximately 60 people show up.
