Call to Order, Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance

  Chair called workshop to order. Pastor led into invocation and Chair led into pledge. 

 

  

Citizens Requesting to be Heard on Non-Agenda Items (3-minutes Limit)

The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners welcomes and encourages public participation at all meetings of the Board. Citizens are free to speak for up to three (3) minutes on non-agenda items. Public comments and participation are also encouraged for items on the agenda. Additionally, if you are unable to attend a meeting in person, comments from the Public can also be submitted via email to CitizensToBeHeard@gadsdencountyfl.gov until noon on the date of the meeting. Comments submitted after the deadline, but prior to the meeting, will be added to the official record, but the County cannot guarantee that Commissioners and staff will have adequate time to review comments prior to the meeting. Citizens are further encouraged to participate on the County’s website at www.gadsdencountyfl.gov.

Health Services

  Holt mentioned healthcare needs assessment that she passed out.

 

Simpkins appeared at 6:06 p.m.

 

  Dr. Browning appeared. Was chosen to take over Dr. Newberry’s practice.  

 

  Browning stated his goal was to provide quality care for all.

 

  Browning stated will be closing gap of 2,000 patients. Will have 24/7 call coverage.

 

  Wood asked about indigent patients

 

  Browning stated they take oath to serve everyone regardless of race, background, etc.   

 

  Green asked if private practice; Browning stated yes, creating group of physicians.   

 

  Browning stated called every commissioner and was available to answer any questions

 

  Green stated over 700k was Browning’s ask and asked about guaranteed value

 

  Browning stated they want to prevent hospital visits

 

  Wood stated is excited Browning is here; asked if he would have problem re-constructing plan.

 

  Simpkins stated thought it was less amount; Browning stated amount was negotiable.  

 

  Simpkins stated he should state he was willing to see a percentage of patients

 

  Simpkins asked how he was willing to work with mobile health unit

 

  Browning stated was willing to get on mobile unit to do home visits. 

 

  Green felt like putting this as agenda item next week was premature

 

  Browning stated primary goal was healthcare for Gadsden citizens

 

  Browning stated proposal was sent to county

 

  Nurse Practitioner Bryan Ham appeared. Owner of clinic in Chattahoochee.

 

  Ham gave background – wanted to form some kind of partnership

 

Green stepped out at 6:56 p.m.

 

Wood stepped out at 6:58 p.m.

 

Wood returned at 7:00 p.m.

 

Green appeared online.

 

  Rob Presnell appeared.

 

  Amy Glass appeared.

 

  John Matthew Thro, Neighborhood Medical board member, appeared.

 

  Simpkins asked if they were back in building; Thro stated yes.

 

  Green mentioned indigent funds – need outline of budget

 

  Wood asked what exactly is Neighborhood Health      

 

  Dr. Tracey Thompson, North FL Rural Health, appeared online.

 

   Holt asked about their schedule – Thompson stated 5 days a week 10 – 2 p.m.

Thompson is there 2x a month.

 

  Thompson explained low-income pool.

 

Wood stepped out at 7:46 p.m.

 

Wood returned at 7:48 p.m.

 

  Wood asked how many patients they have daily – Thompson stated about 20 

Wood asked if she could fix any communication problems they have.          

 

  Jessie Furlow rep, Lane Lunn, appeared. Suggested to spend on public health announcements to educate people.

 

  Holt asked about funding – Lunn stated they receive federal funding. 

 

  Adrienne Cooksey appeared.

  

 

PAMS (Prescription Assistance Medical Services)

 Tony Hannah appeared.

 

  Jolleen Williams appeared to provide insight on PAMS.

Mobile Health Unit

  Hannah expanded on mobile health unit.  

 

  Stacey Hannigan, School Board member, appeared.
